Entrepreneurship Awareness Programme-cum-Workshop

Community College and Jammu & Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute (JKEDI) organized a one-day awareness program-cum-workshop for vocational learners on J&K Startup Policy with a special focus on innovation and incubation at the Bari Brahmana Regional Campus of the Institute at Jammu. Mr. Ajaz Ahmad Bhat, Director JKEDI, presided over the program as the Chief Guest. The program was conducted by the Centre for Innovation, Incubation and Business Modelling (CIIBM), a program vertical of JKEDI in association with Community College, Central University of Jammu. The program was a part of the Institute’s campaign to involve and collaborate with academic Institutions to create a sustainable entrepreneurial culture in the UT of J&K. This initiative will help learners to develop an innovative mindset and in inculcating the principles of entrepreneurship in young minds so that they will be able to realize their full potential in order to become leaders in their respective fields. Students were provided with a platform for open and productive exchanges of ideas and knowledge to become entrepreneurs. They were also given a detailed insight into the basic prerequisites for the creation of a successful enterprise. During the program, many aspects of J&K Startup policy including incubation, funding, patents, networking and access to market support, legal support, regulatory and compliance support as well as infrastructure support were discussed in detail with the students. The vocational learners were also acquainted with the Startup India interventions and support available for the Startups. The programme was coordinated by Prof. Jaya Bhasin, Principal, CC and Dr. Shahid Mushtaq, Nodal Officer, B.Voc Programmes. Others involved in conduct of the Programme included Mr. Ketan Bhat,Ms. Vibhu Johar and Mr. Kohit Targotra from Community College, Dr. Majid Mazoor Khan, Dr.Meiraj-ud-din Bhat, Mr. Vishal Ray, Arif Ahmad Khan, Dr. Vinod Kumar and Mr. Imtiyaz Ahad also attend the event.

World Investor Week, 2022

Community College Celebrated World Investor Week, 2022. As a Securities Market Regulator, SEBI is member of the International Organization of Securities Commissions (10SCO). Every year, world over, World Investor Week is celebrated, under the aegis of International Organization of Securities Commissions (I0SCO), in order to give further impetus to the various investor education and awareness initiatives. A Series of activities were organised in collaboration with BSE in online mode to celebrate Investor Week, 2022 . Faculty Members and Students of B.Voc (RM) and B.Voc (BFS) participated in the event. Programme was coordinated by Mr. Asif Ali, Programme Coordinator, BFS under the supervision of Principal, CC.

Orientation Programme for Newly Admitted Students

Community College organised Orientation Programme for newly admitted students of B.Voc (Retail Management), B.Voc (Banking and Financial Services) and B.Voc (Tourism Management) from 1st-4th November 2022. On first day of the Programme Prof. Sanjeev Jain, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Central University of Jammu welcomed the students and informed them about the Skill Based Programmes offered by the University as well as facilities extended by the University for the benefit of learners. He emphasized that the University’s endeavour to ensure that every learner finds their experience and learning truly rewarding, memorable, and enriching. He pointed out that University aims at inculcating skill set that makes them well versed not only their chosen field of learning but also help in equipping with values and capacities to make their lives socially valuable and satisfying. Prof. Jaya Bhasin, Principal, CC interacted with the students and apprised them about sector specific opportunities available for them. Dr. Neelika Arora, Programme Coordinator B.Voc Retail Management, Mr. Asif Ali, Programme Coordinator B.Voc BFS and Mr. Rahul Thakur, Programme Coordinator B,Voc Tourism Management interacted with vocational learners and apprised them about Course Curriculum. Dr. Shahid Mushtaq briefed them about NSQF Levels and various Job Roles for which they will be trained. Ms. Surbhi Kohli Bamba, Soft Skills Trainer conducted the sessions on Soft Skills and Personality Development, Human Values. She conducted various activities through which learners were able to build up their confidence while enhancing their communication skills. The orientation programme was coordinated by Dr. Shahid Mushtaq and Dr Neelika Arora under the supervision of Prof. Jaya Bhasin.

Financial Education for Young Citizen Program

Community College organized two- day workshop on Financial Education Certification for young citizen program under KONA KONA SHIKSHA a Kotak Securities CSR initiative for promoting Financial Education. As a part of this initiative workshop was organized for spreading investor awareness and promoting financial literacy. The broad objective of the program was to impart amongst young investors money skills and inculcate financial discipline in their day to day life. The objective of investor protection can be proactively achieved by financially educating and empowering the public. Around 100+ participants registered for the aforesaid Programme attended the same. After the successful completion of the program the participants were given certificates of participation. The programme was sponsored by National Institute of Securities Market (NISM). Earlier, Principal Community College Prof. Jaya Bhasin, along with Nodal Officer, Community College, Dr Shahid Mushtaq formally welcomed resource person Mr. Anil Sharma, Smart Trainer, faculty members and participants of the workshop. Prof. Jaya Bhasin apprised that workshop is being organised under the Patronage and overall supervision of Prof. Sanjeev Jain, Vice Chancellor, Central University of Jammu. She informed that the purpose of this event was to provide firsthand experience on how to manage ones finances wisely so that one could become good financial manager in future. Dr. Shahid Mushtaq explained the participants about broad objective of the workshop was to impart among young investors money skills and inculcate financial discipline in their day to day life and thus empowering the youth. Mr. Anil Sharma, Expert Trainer, Assistant General Manager & Office Incharge SEBI Jammu resource person during the workshop deliberated on Importance of Investment, Financial Investment Opportunities, Process & Pre- requisites to invest in Securities Markets, Investment in Primary Markets, Investing in Secondary Markets, Introduction to Mutual funds and ways to invest in them, Precautions while investing in Securities Markets & Career in Securities Markets. Students showed great enthusiasm and actively participated in the events of the workshop. They learnt the prerequisites for effective financial management. It was a fruitful knowledge sharing experience. The learners were able to develop the ability to understand how money works, how someone makes, manages and invests it, and also expends it to help others. The two day workshop was hosted by Prof. Jaya Bhasin and Dr. Shahid Mushtaq.The function finally concluded with a vote of thanks presented by Mr. Kohit Targotra, Faculty member, CC
