The Department of National Security Studies is located in the strategically important region of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K). Since its inception in 2013, it has played a pivotal role in advancing education and research in security and strategic studies. Currently, the Department offers M.A. and PhD programs.

At the Department of National Security Studies, we adhere to the recommended relevant curricula and equip our students and scholars with practical learning experiences and hands- on policy analysis skills. This is achieved through innovative student-centric teaching methods and the promotion of interactive learning in our smart classrooms. Learning material is provided to students via Moodle is online platform, which integrates advanced digital practices to make learning more effective and student-centric. Additionally, the Department also takes students on field trips and actively collaborates with security agencies and reputed government and non-governmental institutions. The Department also has MOUs with national and international think tanks and institutions. Our faculty members offer comprehensive career guidance, including advice on joining the armed and paramilitary forces, securing internships at top-tier security think tanks, and rigorous preparation for UGC NET-JRF, ensuring our students are well-equipped for their future careers.
