HoD's Message

Greetings to all!

I strongly believe that Teaching is a profession for divine work. It is a great honour for me to lead the Department of Educational Studies (DES), at the Central University of Jammu which, from its inception in 2012, focuses exclusively on preparing teachers, teacher educators, and professionals with a sense of global patriotism based on universal human ideals. The Department works with the vision of great Bharatiya leaders such as Swami Vivekanand, Maharshi Sri Aurobindo, PanditMadan Mohan Malviya, and Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam to produce creative, skilled, and self-motivated teachers and teacher educators to meet the evolving needs of our society. Our mission is to implement the ideas of NEP-2020 which extends far beyond the traditional boundaries of teacher education. I believe in working with great enthusiasm and a profound sense of responsibility along with our team of dedicated and experienced faculty, scholars, and students to make the Department one of the leading organizations for teacher education. The Department is committed to shaping the prospective teachers who inspire, lead, and contribute meaningfully to the development of individuals, community and Nation. Therefore, we need to continue our consistent, rigorous, and sustained effort to make it successful. Let us collectively work towards the Department of Educational Studies that not only meets the highest academic standards but also serves as a beacon of inspiration and positive impact in the field of education. I strongly believe that the Department of Educational Studies is marching ahead in the direction of providing a platform for preparing teachers and teacher-educators with the vision of Swami Vivekanand i.e., Education for Man-making and Nation Building. I would like to conclude by quoting The Mother, “Never boast about anything, let your acts speak for you.”
