Dear all,
Language as the essence of culture fosters collective understanding and intercultural
communication. In the Indian context the domain of language is so powerful as vedic
literature crystallises the basic concept of language thought interconnection. Understandably
Sanskrit language as the mother language of entire Indo-European languages establishes the
richness of Bhartiya Gyan Parampara. Panini the first grammarian who founded the science
of linguistics centuries before Christ establishes the scientific and practical aspects of
Sanskrit language. Further the power of vedic language was beautifully illustrated by Frawley
when he said “mantra is the original form of all language, the original language, from which
all others derive”. Taking a cue from The communion between the phenomenal and
Trancendental world that is between the individual consciousness and the cosmic
consciousness, the School of languages is committed towards creating a dynamic
environment for teaching, learning and research in English, Hindi and other Indian languages.
Language acts as a bridge between people, communities, and cultures. Nestled at the foothills
of the Pir Panjal, the School of Languages at Central University of Jammu is dedicated
towards creating a dynamic teaching and learning environment for English, Hindi, and other
Indian languages. It facilitates unique opportunities to explore the vivid spectrum of literary
and linguistic diversity. It celebrates the rich cultural and scholarly heritage of Indian and
foreign literatures through innovative perspectives, explorations and investigations.
To this extent, the School strives towards the cultivation of a comprehensive student-centric
curriculum, proficient teaching methods, and scholarly research endeavours of the highest
order. In the times to come, the School aspires to expand its horizons towards various other
foreign and Indian languages and their literature. With our learned faculty members and
passionate staff, the School of Languages aims to create an environment fostering innovative
scholarship with a joyful appreciation for languages.
